Abstract
As the use of dental implants as an option for replacement of missing teeth is surging in the present scenario, incidence of post implant complications also on the rise.Peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis are the two common complications affecting the soft and hard tissues around the implants. Many concepts regarding diagnosis, clinical implications and treatment protocols regarding peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis are evolving. Knowledge of the above is essential for the management of biologic complications such as peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. In this review article,the current concepts of diagnosis, clinical implications and treatment protocols of peri-implantdiseases and its evolution from the previous concepts will be elaborated.
