Abstract
In 1970 the Congress of the United States adopted the Ocupational Safety and Health Act which provided for the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). These two bodies have contributed to the growth in occupational safety and health since that time.
