Current Trends in Child Marriage

Abstract

•The declines in child marriage have been uneven between countries.•The highest rates of child marriage are seen in some sub-Saharan African countries. Within this region, countries with the highest levels of child marriage are in West and Central Africa.•The Sustainable Development Goal (5.3) target (to eliminate child, early, and forced marriage and female genital mutilation by 2030) will be hard to reach if current trends continue.
