Abstract
I urge sophomore medical students, as they begin their clinical training, to develop an approach to diagnosis. Later in their careers, after making a diagnosis, they can usually up the treatment. This book is a major source of where to look it up. As the title implies, this is not a textbook of internal medicine in competition with Harrison's, Cecil , and others. It is one of 27 titles in the Current Therapy series by the same publisher. Many of the chapters on specific diseases were taken verbatim from the subspecialty books ( Current Therapy in Cardiovascular Disease, Current Therapy in Nephrology and Hypertension , and others) to constitute a volume aimed at the general internist. It is comparable in price to some of the separate subspecialty books. Readers familiar with the second edition (1987, under different editorship) will find that this is a very different and mainly improved book. The number
