Abstract

This chapter begins by demonstrating the importance of early identification and treatment of mental health problems in children. Medical and school-based settings for early identification are considered. The current system of identification in schools and its limitations are addressed, with an emphasis on the potential contribution of a movement towards universal screening for mental health problems in schools.
