Abstract

ABSTRACT Regulated markets such as Japan face challenges in balancing the value of pharmaceutical drugs and market dynamics, resulting in inappropriate business practices. This paper describes a currently important trading issue in Japan, namely pending price settlements and provisional deliveries. This practice is a unique Japanese business custom, which leads inefficiency. The paper examines factors attributed to this practice and its consequences.
