Abstract

Recent modifications of the 14C AMS system at the University of Washington Nuclear Physics Laboratory have significantly improved the performance of the system. Analysis of various data sets produced under our ongoing program to evaluate the precision and accuracy of the 14C AMS measurements shows that ⩽ 3%. of the scatter in the measurements cannot be accounted for by counting statistics uncertainties and indicates that inaccuracies in the measurements introduced by systematic errors are less than 3%.. Current scientific studies being undertaken with the University of Washington 14C AMS system are discussed briefly.
