Abstract

At present, among maglevs driven by normal-conducting electromagnetic suspension systems or superconducting electrodynamic suspension systems in the world, some have reached the stage of commercial operation, while others are still in the stage of test runs. Taking Birmingham, HSST, Transrapid, MLU and M-Bahn as examples, main features such as suspension, guidance and propulsion systems, air gap between vehicle and ground and the like as well as magnetic technology as a key factor in these systems are described, in addition to brief introduction of some proposed projects or concepts about new maglev systems.
