Abstract

AbstractThe possible treatments for limbal stem cell (LSC) deficiencies include a wide spectrum spanning from general support measures (medical, lubricants and plasma derivatives), resection techniques, the different options for supplying LSC (limbal transplants, expanded cell transplants, SLET, heterotopic mucosal transplants), all the way to keratoplasty and keratoprosthesis. This presentation will review the current status of limbal transplants for LSC deficiencies, including autologous and homologous kerato‐limbal and conjunctivo‐limbal grafts, with an update on the indications, techniques, results and postoperative management.
