Abstract
Most of the proven geothermal resources in the world are dry hot rock geothermal resources, which have good prospects for development and utilization. In this paper, the development and utilization practice of foreign dry hot rock resources is combed, the research and practice of dry hot rock exploration and development in China are introduced, and the main technologies of geothermal exploration and utilization of dry hot rock are analyzed. Finally, three conclusions are drawn. First, although the development and utilization of dry hot rock abroad are still in the experimental stage, it shows good technical feasibility. Second, there is a great potential for dry hot rock geothermal resources in China, and the existence of dry hot rock has been confirmed by exploration in Gonghe Basin, Nothern Hainan Island (Qiongbei), and other places. Third, the technologies of well completion, fracturing, heat exchange, and power generation for dry hot rock are in the experimental stage, which still have many difficulties to solve.
