Abstract

Objective To investigate the occurrence of post-stroke depression (PSD) and its effects on neurological rehabilitation. Methods A total of 300 patients with PSD admitted to the Third People’s Hospital of Datong from May 2016 to May 2018 were selected as research objects. And they were divided into control group and observation group according to the order of admission, with 100 cases in each group. The control group was given routine treatment, while the observation group was given antidepressant treatment based on the treatment of the control group. The scores of Hamilton depression scale (HAMD), neurological impairment (NIHSS) score, activity of daily living (ADL) score and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results There was no significant difference in the incidence of depression between the two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, HAMD and NIHSS scores in observation group were lower than those in control group (P<0.05), and ADL scores in observation group were higher than those in control group (P<0.05). Conclusions PSD treatment can alleviate the neurological deficit, improve the rehabilitation of neurological function and improve the ability of daily living. Key words: Stroke; Depression; Occurrence status; Neurological rehabilitation
