Abstract
Material characteristics and utilization play an increasingly decisive role in a globally competing industry. Materials not only influence the possible product design, but also the feasible production processes and parameters. Knowledge about the behaviour of different materials is crucial in this regard.But how aware is that to the current industry and how well are the material characteristics reflected in current industrial processes – from design to production. A survey conducted among various companies aims to provide insights and focus on answering the question of how important certain methods such as data analysis are today in order to achieve improvements in these areas and what are the expectations for the future.
