Abstract
What a Clinical Trial Related to Elective Labor Induction Could Mean for the Future of Birth in the United States Many perinatal providers are unaware that a large, multi-site clinical trial is currently underway to compare elective induction of labor at 39 weeks gestation to expectant management in nulliparous women with single, vertex fetuses. This study, known as A Randomized Trial of Induction Versus Expectant Management (ARRIVE), has the capacity to radically change the way late pregnancy and labor are managed in the United States (ClinicalTrials.gov, 2015).
