Abstract
T HE U.S. Department of Agriculture has carried on an agricultural outlook program and forecasting conference for nearly a half century. Many changes and many improvements have been made during this period, but changes in agriculture have been very rapid. Let us look briefly at the outlook function, changes taking place in agriculture, and some related problems in the national agricultural outlook program.
