Abstract
Islet β cell failure during diabetic progression and hypoglycemia induced by anti-diabetic drugs have become the obstacles of diabetes treatment.G protein coupled receptor 119 ( GPR119) agonists can decrease blood glucose level and preserve islet β cell function without hypoglycemia.GPR119 is expressed both in islet β cells and enteroendocrine cells,and activation of GPR119 can enhance glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS),increase the secretion of glucagon-like peptide-1 ( GLP-1 ),and promote the activation of insulin promoter.These advantages mentioned above suggest that GPR119 agonists show a good prospect as a new kind of anti-diabetes drugs.
