Abstract

This study proposes simultaneous DC-link current ripple, torque ripple, and radial force ripple reduction by injecting optimal phase currents obtained from multi-objective optimization techniques while maintaining the output performance of the machine. The user can select the weighting for different objectives in the optimization process depending on the desired application. In addition to efficient and reliable drive operation, the controller can generate optimum current profiles at a wide speed range of operation. Finite element analysis (FEA) is performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. Experimental test results are included for both the proposed and the conventional control techniques. Simulations and experimental test show that the proposed method reduces the torque ripple, DC-link current ripple and acoustic noise while maintaining the torque/ampere ratio.
