Abstract
Some trade union collective bargaining health and welfare plans include mental health services among their benefits. The UMWA Welfare Fund was one of the earliest. A series of medical group practice plans in coal mining communities provide psychiatric and social services. Location of community health centers in group practice clinics and union health centers as well as in general hospitals and health department centers is essential.
