Abstract

A physical model is given in the present work for determining the maximum current load and thermal response in a high voltage power transmission line. The model is based on all major heat transfer mechanisms occurring in the conductor in a natural environment. To verify the model, its predictions are compared with experimental data. It is shown that the model predictions and the observed data are in good agreement.
