Abstract

In 2006, CMS dropped the “G” code that had been used to cover the work of planning for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) procedures, G0338, and begin using the “conventional” radiation oncology planning (and ancillary) codes that were available to use for 3-D conventional radiation therapy. These included Current Procedural Terminology® (CPT)® codes 77295, 77300, 77334, 77470 (if applicable), 77336, and 77370. Some groups use CPT 77301, Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Plan to cover SRS and SBRT planning because it more accurately reflects the time and resources used in SRS and SBRT planning.
