Abstract

The Lending Division of the British Library is extensively involved with both current and duplicate exchanges. Here, the author focuses upon current exchange-specifically, the current exchange of serials. Though many persons and organizations appear to be committed to international current exchange, few seem to have evaluated the extant arrangements for same. The author details some of the problems of international current exchange of serials, and after considering the cost of such problems, concludes that international current exchanges of serials are necessary but undesirable.
