Abstract
Son yillarda ilac tedavisinde saglanan onemli gelismelere ragmen hipertansiyon, en onemli saglik sorunlarindan biri olmaya devam etmektedir. Cok sayida gozlemsel calisma kardiyovaskuler morbidite ve mortalitenin hem sistolik hem de diyastolik kan basinciyla surekli bir iliski icinde oldugunu gostermistir. Dunya Saglik Orgutu hipertansiyonun dunyada olum nedeni olarak en onde yer aldigini aciklamistir. Gunumuzde oldugu gibi gelecekte de onemli bir toplum sagligi sorunu olacagi dusunuldugunde yeni arastirmalar dogrultusunda guncel kilavuzlarin gelistirilmesi ihtiyaci dogmaktadir. Bu yazida hipertansiyon tani ve tedavisinde guncel yaklasimlar kisaca gozden gecirilmistir.
