Abstract
Switched reluctance motor drives (SRM) are gaining great acceptance in industry over the past few decades because of its extensive development and design simplicity. SRM is considered as a reliable machine for many applications with low manufacturing cost. A converter is required to drive the switched reluctance motors as they cannot be driven directly from a dc or ac source. A controller is used to track the motor output current with the current command values. This paper presents a comparative study of simulation results of current control of a 6/4 SRM driven by a sliding-mode current controller and hysteresis current controller in MATLAB.
