Abstract
It may seem monotonous to mention the numerous health benefits associated with regular physical activity in type 1 diabetes (T1D), but many individuals with T1D are not meeting physical activity guidelines (1). This is likely attributable, in part, to the complexity of glucose and insulin management in anticipation of, during, and after exercise. In addition, fear of hypoglycemia has often been highlighted as a leading barrier to exercise in both youth and adults with T1D (2). It has also been reported that receiving conflicting advice and incorrect information from health-care professionals regarding exercise and diabetes education often leads to patient frustration (3).
