Abstract

Naive application of the soft pion theorem to e +e - → 4 π +- in the 1−1.4 GeV region gives a cross section too small by a factor 10–15 compared with experiments. Agreement is obtained only when the soft pion result is modified by the A 1 dominance for the hadronic axial vector current. This effect should be present in τ→3πυ decay.
