Abstract

Objective To analyze and evaluate the curative effect of ribavirin ultrasound aerosolized in treating pediatric respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. Methods 80 cases of RSV infection from Oct 2008 to Dec 2010 were randomly divided into control group and experiment group, with 40 cases for each group. The experiment group used ribavirin ultrasound treatment, while the control group took ribavirin intravenous drip treatment. Results The effective rate in experiment group total was 80.0%,significantly higher than that of the control group (42.5%) ( x2=26.02,P< 0.01 ),with statistical significance. The fever duration, break time, and lung sound duration in control group were significantly longer than those of experiment group (P < 0.01).Conclusion The clinical curative effects of the method of ribavirin ultrasound aerosolized in the treatment for RSV infection are obviously better than ribavirin intravenous drip treatment. Key words: Ribavirin; Ultrasound atomization inhalation; Resiiratory infections; Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
