Abstract

Abstract Cupric bromide has been used for a great number of bromination reactions. However, the radical bromination of toluenes has not yet been studied. Though few examples show benzylic bromide as by-product: — in acetonitrile1, with diisopropyl-peroxydicarbonate as oxidising agent: yield: 18%. — without solvent2 and oxidising agent: yield 2,5%.
