Abstract
Abstract ‘Tropic’ tomato plants were grown in solution cultures to compare the individual and combined effects of B, Li, Na in the water used to bring solutions up to volume (make-up water). Leaf chlorosis and necrosis were evident after the concentration of B, Li, and Na were increased to 2, 2, and 140 ppm, respectively, in the makeup water. Threshold leaf concentration above which toxicity was evident, are estimated at 170, 80 and 7000 ppm, respectively. Additive effects were not found among these elements at lower concentration.
