Abstract

(Abstracted from Urogynecology 2023;29:763–769) Beyond impaired quality of life, the effects of urinary incontinence (UI) and overactive bladder (OAB) put older adults with this condition as at risk of social isolation, institutionalization, loss of independence, and injurious falls. Although the prevalence of older women with these conditions is reported as more than 30%, it is also believed that fewer than half of affected persons report bladder control problems to their health care providers.
