Abstract

Abstract Larval gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum) were raised in 68-L aquaria from fertilization through metamorphosis with about 20% survival. Success was attributed mainly to availability of live, digestible, suitably sized food supplied in a suitable density. The addition of a dense culture of phytoplankton to the rearing aquaria also may have been important.
