Abstract

Abstract Enteromorpha linza and Ulvaria oxysperma from Colombia and Costa Rica, respectively, were studied by observations of material collected from nature and laboratory culture experiments. Results of these investigations are compared with the literature from Japanese and European studies. Both E. linza and U. oxysperma are. shown to be haplobiontic, reproducing exclusively by bi- and quadriflagellate zoospores. Results of cytological investigations are discussed: N=10 was indicated for E. linza, while no determination was possible for Ulvaria.
