Abstract

Chiao and colleagues (this issue) present compelling evidence for the necessity of employing a cultural neuroscience perspective. As they show, by integrating approaches from an immense array of disciplines, such as cultural psychology, neuroscience, and genetics, scientists can achieve a more profound knowledge of the interconnections between these seemingly disparate fields and how each theoretical approach influences one another. Furthermore, through employing methods from other disciplines, scientists will also be able to attain a more nuanced understanding of the phenomena of their own respective fields. We praise this approach, and support the notion that cultural psychology could benefit immensely from methodologies implemented in neuroscience and genetics.
