Abstract

The article examines in the study of foreign language. The reasons why a true integration of cultural learning in the foreign language classroom are explored. The author states that study abroad is the primary instrument through which language students gain experience with and appreciate other cultures, but this environment can also be replicated in a classroom. The author clarifies how the term immersion has been used in the field and why it is instructive in discussing cultural learning. The article also discusses what exactly students are meant to be immersed in.
