Abstract

Considerable attention has been focussed on the exploration of human sex role development. Knowledge of sex role stereotypes begins very early. Kubu (1978) and his colleagues have indicated that two to three year old children possess substantial knowledge of those sex role stereotypes predominant in the adult culture. Mussen (1969) demonstrated that behaviours of sex role sterotypes are pronounced in four to five year old children. Money and Ehrhardt (1972) asserted that a child’s sex identity is psychologically irreversible after the age of three years. Knowledge of sex role and sex identity are integrated very early in personality development.
