Abstract

The development of information technology and widespread of the Internet have brought the society into the Era of Big Data. Great changes have taken place in English learning and teaching modes at college. Chunk teaching method organizes language according to certain rules and outputs them to produce sentences. Based on the chunk teaching approach, this paper explores the practice of improving college students” English writing ability via the DingTalk, QQ Groupware, Rain classroom, WeChat and other Internet resources. We find that the application of the chunk teaching method in writing teaching process and the development of English output ability are closely related, while the students” English writing performance is significantly better than before. In college English teaching process, teachers should properly use big data to analyze students” learning characteristics and learning strategies, utilize chunk learning theory as guidance, give full play to the role of lexical chunks in English teaching.
