Abstract

Suggestions are made in this chapter for lessons that engage with Asian thinkers, Mahatma Gandhi, Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, and Daisaku Ikeda’s beliefs, modes of thinking, behaviors, and strategies as active protagonists within their respective countries. The proposals made in this chapter are not typical formal lesson plans but include teaching guidelines that can be used to integrate non-Western perspectives to develop a global outlook within teacher education programs; for the professional development of in-service teachers; within undergraduate (bachelor’s) and graduate (master’s) programs on international and comparative education, development education, and global learning; and within civil society organizations promoting global citizenship education. Core activities are provided that can be used to develop curriculum according to the needs of the cohort.
