Abstract

It appears that the phase transformation in case of CdS depends on the starting material and method of treatment. In phase transformation process, XRD peak heights corresponding to: (1 1 1), (2 0 0), (2 2 0) (belonging to cubic phase) and (0 0 2), (1 0 1) and (1 0 3) (belonging to hexagonal phase) are changing. Percentage of hexagonal content (H) in CdS go on increasing with an increase in concentration of CdCl 2 or CuCl 2 (% by weight of CdS) into CdS and phase transformation perhaps could be attributed to the incorporation of Cl − ions in CdS matrix in the process of doping. Lattice constants are observed to be sensitively affected by doping.
