Abstract
A procedure for deriving the system of differential equations of the nonlinear theory of anisotropic shells is developed. It can be applied to the displacement–strain relationship of any order of nonlinearity. The procedure is used when the expressions for longitudinal shear, curvatures, and torsion include third-order terms. To illustrate all the stages of the procedure, the problem of the nonlinear deformation of a corrugated arch is solved
