Abstract

The historical garden in a house museum is such an exhibition area as the rest of museificated living spaces . This natural heritage, in its tangible aspects, could be identified with a series of elements such as the water supplies, farming elements and built ones. It also implies intangible value expressions which may allow either a person or a community to take roots there creating emotional bonds with visitors. The opening to public visits may increase its fragility. Therefore its conservation should keep a balance with its accessibility and avoiding focusing just on the traditional conservation of the monument. Its ephemeral character requires a particular formation in the area of conservation which suggestions should control restoration so as to keep its historic significance without altering any of its value. The cultural dimension of this heritage provides a framework for the elaboration of conservation strategies.
