Abstract
Copper, tin and zinc have been co-electrodeposited on Mo-coated glass substrates via an electrochemical process with the aim at preparing kesterite absorber for thin film solar cells. The co-electrodeposition behavior of Cu–Sn–Zn (CZT) thin film has been studied by using linear voltammetery technique. The as-electrodeposited, pre-annealed and sulfurized films were characterised by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. To obtain suitable composition and high crystallinity, deposition potential and sulfurization temperature have been optimized. As the results, the solar cell fabricated with the CZTS thin film sulfurized at 560 °C showed a conversion efficiency of 3.74 %. The estimated band-gap energy from the external quantum efficiency measurements is about 1.48 eV.
