Abstract

• Cu 2 Se/Bi 2 S 3 nanocomposites were constructed as both chemodynamic therapy and photothermal therapy agents. • The synergistic bactericidal mechanism was based on peroxidase-like activity and NIR-induced hyperthermia. • Cu 2 Se/Bi 2 S 3 nanocomposites possessed good anti -E. coli and anti -S. aureus ability. • Cu 2 Se/Bi 2 S 3 + H 2 O 2 group could effectively promote tissue regeneration and wound healing. Microbial infection has been a major threat to human health worldwide. With a dramatic increase in bacterial resistance, it is critical to develop nonantibiotic-dependent therapies to conquer the bacterial drug-resistance. In this work, we constructed Cu 2 Se/Bi 2 S 3 nanocomposites used as both chemodynamic therapy and photothermal therapy agents. It had synergistic bactericidal efficiency based on peroxidase-like activity and near-infrared (NIR)-induced hyperthermia, which made Cu 2 Se/Bi 2 S 3 nanocomposites possess good anti -Escherichia coli and anti -Staphylococcus aureus ability with inappreciable cytotoxicity. Moreover, it was further manifested that S. aureus infected wound treating with Cu 2 Se/Bi 2 S 3 NCs presented excellent healing outcome.
