Cu–ion induced self-polymerization of Cu phthalocyanine to prepare low-cost organic cathode materials for Li-ion batteries with ultra-high voltage and ultra-fast rate capability

Abstract

We confirmed that CuPc monomers used as cathode materials are self-polymerized when charged to a high voltage of 4.4 V. The polymerized CuPc cathode exhibits excellent high rate capability and superior long-term cycling stability.
