Abstract

The Cu contents of twenty five representative rock samples from the central cones of Aso volcano have been determined by the Sandell's colorimetric method. They range from 0.001 to 0.015 per cent and generally tend to be higher in basic rocks and lower in acidic ones. It has been also noticed that the rock types produced by fractional crystallization of high-alumina basalt magma have higher Cu contents, while those formed by contamination have lower.
