CT Assessment of Dental Implant Planning

Abstract

SUMMARY The dental CT software program has become a valuable tool for assessing implant candidates. It provides clear multiplanar images of the jaw which identify the position of the inferior alveolar canal and maxillary sinuses and the area of maximal bone height and width. With this type of information the dentist and surgeon are now better able to develop a successful treatment plan. In addition, the patient can be better informed of the potential risks and complications. This should improve patient satisfaction and help reduce unrealistic expectations.
