Abstract

The NetSec event in San Francisco this year witnessed technologies in forensics, and a wealth of information in the area of PKI as well as the presence of the Secret Service in a keynote session. Yes PKI, everything at the conference told me that PKI is very much alive. Although it was clear that vendors were present the exhibition did not harbour any hype or deluding focus on viruses or other vendor-lead scares. It seemed to indeed reflect reality and thus had quite a sobering effect. The attendees at NetSec seemed to be experienced security professionals who wouldn’t bat an eyelid at the latest contrived frilly virus to hit the headlines.
