Abstract

THE intensity of depolarized light transmitted by a thin film of isotactic polypropylene, crystallizing isothermally on a polarizing microscope hot stage was followed using a photomultiplier unit with an appropriate recorder system1,2. For the slower rates of crystallization, the cathode ray oscillograph–camera arrangement was replaced by a Honeywell Brown m.V. recorder. All measurements were made within the linear operating range of the equipment.
