Abstract

The 0.94(Na0·5Bi0.5)TiO3-0.06BaTiO3 (NBT-BT6) system is a promising lead-free piezoelectric material with excellent piezo and ferroelectric properties. In this paper, the systematic study of crystallization kinetics and structural characterization of NBT-BT6 obtained via polymeric precursor was analyzed, emphasizing the calculation of formation energy by non-isothermal methods and morphological evaluation of NBT-BT6 nanopowders. According to the results of TGA-DTG/DTA thermal analyses and XRD, at 450 °C the initial process of crystallization of NBT-BT6 was observed at a concentration of 65.54%, with formation energy between 121 and 167 kJ/mol, an unprecedented value in the literature on the crystallization of the NBT-BT6 complex system. The results of the DSC thermal analysis verified the formation of the ferroelectric NBT-BT6 phase with a rhombohedral - tetragonal phase transition at 270 °C, associated with the morphotropic (MPB) phase contour of this material. The RAMAN spectroscopy and XRD results after Rietveld refinement confirmed the coexistence of rhombohedral and tetragonal structures in the nanopowders (∼50 nm) 100% of the phase of interest obtained at 650 °C.
