Abstract

The Ti 45.50Zr 23.89Ni 15.91Cu 14.70 (at.%) metallic glass was prepared in an arc furnace and hammer-and-anvil equipment, for which the cooling rate during solidification is about 10 6 K/s. The crystallization behavior for this metallic glass has been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). There are two stages in the DSC curves. The reduced glass temperature T rg is 0.63. The kinetic parameters of crystallization have been calculated by a set of equations of the maximum crystallization rate proposed by Gao et al. The crystallization phases of Ti 2Ni, Zr 2Cu and α-Ti were formed in the MSI stage at the same time. A recrystallization process occurred in the MSII stage.
