Abstract

Titania prepared via the peroxo route (PT) was found to have a higher condensation rate (lower crystallization temperature) and smaller particle size than that produced via the normal sol gel route (NT). These two factors play important roles in determining the resultant crystal phases (anatase, rutile) after thermal treatment. The dependency of resultant crystal phase on condensation rate and particle size has been investigated using the PT and NT. It was found that condensation rate is the most important parameter in determining the crystal phase of the titania formed.
