Abstract

A crystalline-instanton-liquid model of a QCD vacuum is proposed and its implications on the finite-temperature phase transitions in QCD are explored. It is shown from this model that both the chiral and deconfinement transitions may exist in QCD with ${T}_{\mathrm{ch}}>{T}_{\mathrm{dec}}$ and both may be first order. The critical temperatures are also determined.
