Abstract
Crystallization in Pnma, with a=7.210, b=4.488, c=7.732A, Z=4; R=0.053. The title compound crystallizes in the NiTiSi structure type. Au- and Al-atoms form a framework of tetrahedra. The ytterbium atoms occupy voids of this Au/Al framework. Interatomic distances are: d(Yb-Yb) = 3.662-3.735, d(Yb-Au) = 3.022-3.640, d(Yb-Al) = 3.190-3.3360, d(Au-Al) =2.645-2.713, d(Al-Al) = 3.425A
